A great night was had by all in attendance on Friday night in the Devon Inn for the 50th and 55th anniversaries of our County Senior and County Junior winners.
Eoin “The Bomber” Liston was our special guest on the night. There was a great turnout by players, their families and friends and many hadn’t seen each other for years.
There was nostalgia aplenty.
All in all it was a great night for the club and the players being honoured. Johnny Walsh, Chairman pf the West Board presented the 68 team members with Anniversary Medallions. The players were also presented with an Anniversary Booklet prepared by Jamie Kelly which further rekindled memories of those great days.
John Hunt did an excellent job as MC and there were speeches made by John Cregan, Chairman of the County Board, Liam Lenihan, Vice Chair of the Munster Council, The Bomber, Paul Curry, Athea Club Chairman
All Ireland Medal Winner Seamus Flanagan was also in attendance with the Liam McCarthy Cup. Both were in big demand on the night.
Fellow club mates Kristine Reidy, Loretta Hanley and Rebecca Delee were also there with the West County Cup. So too was their manager John Ryan and his wife.
Brendan Grace made the journey from Dublin and he too livened proceedings when he got his hands on the microphone. Brendan sat beside his friend Tommy Moran and family who were there supporting Morgan.
It was great to see Seanie O’Connor there and he got to lift the Liam McCarthy cup.
A DVD of the event is now available and is on sale in Collin’s shop for €15.
Bridie Murphy took many photos on the night and will have them available shortly for those who want to purchase them.
